Why can’t we just have one awards show and call it a night? It just seems that once someone is nominated we just see the same thing over and over, whether it is at the Golden Globes, Sag Awards or the Oscars. There should be one awards show for TV, one for movies and one for music and be done? To have 100 awards shows basically honoring the same stuff and same people over and over is enough already.
Now with that all said and done the Sag awards aired live Sunday night, from Los Angeles. Let’s start with the winners. Best Actor this time around went to Sean Penn for his work in the movie, “Milk”. Sorry Mickey Rourke. Best Actress went to Meryl Streep for “Doubt”. Luckily Kate Winslet still went home with one Award. She picks up a nod for Best Supporting Actress for “The Reader”. Heath Ledger won Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of the Joker, in “The Dark Knight” and “Slum dog Millionaire” won Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
On to TV recognition starting with Best Actor in a TV Series – Drama, the winner was Hugh Laurie for “House”. This time Best Actress in a TV Series - Drama went to Sally Field for “Brothers and Sisters”. Isn’t that who I said should have won the Golden Globe? Hmmm…maybe it is a good thing to have all those award shows…just kidding. I still stick to what I said before. Now the next 3 categories are truly a 3pete (actually a 4 pete if there is a thing) starting with Best Actor in a TV Series Comedy – yep Alec Baldwin for “30 Rock”. Next Tina Fey won Best Actress in A TV Series – Comedy and you guessed it 30 Rock won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. And lastly mad Men won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. . Like I said de ja vu! Tune in next time for the next hold your breath I wonder who is going to win this time, awards show results.
