Prince has been admired for three decades for an appreciation for his musical genius and a fascination with his decadence and constant chaotic relationships. Over the span of his professional career, starting in the late 1970s, he has made received award after award and, at times, made Prince tickets the most acclaimed concert seats available. He has changed his name to a symbol and back again and feuded with record labels over creative control. He began his tumultuous life on June 7, 1958 as the child of a pair of musicians in Minneapolis. He was named after his father's stage name, Prince Rogers, because his father, John L. Nelson, wanted his son to accomplish everything he could not. Trouble at home split the family and Prince eventually ended up living with his cousin, Charles Smith. The move would be Prince's first foray into selling concert tickets as a contributing member to the group Grand Central, while he was still in high school. Grand Central became Champagne and Prince eventually became an unfathomable force, working with producer Chris Moon and using his acquaintance with Owen Husney to start a bidding war to sign the young musical genius. Prince ended up with Warner Bros. Records because they offer him creative control. His first couple albums failed to the public, though critics warmed up to his music. Though fans were not lining up to purchase Prince tickets, critics were in line to praise his third album, Dirty Mind. It was not until 1982, with the release of 1999, that Prince finally became a musical sensation. "Little Red Corvette" and "Delirious" were hits in the United States. His next album came with a movie, Purple Rain. The album, film, and tour were all hits. Prince tickets to the funkadelic sound with his backing band, The Time, and the elaborate and provocative stage show were instant hits. The Time would not be the last backing band, as his career has been noted for his rocky relationship with his backing musicians. Most of the time Prince will record all the vocals and all the instruments and his band will just join him for the tour. This inconsistent relationship and his unpredictable, evolving musical styles (along with romantic entanglements) have meant the only real constant in any Prince album and tickets for any tour is Prince himself. Prince ended the 1980s with controversial albums like Sign of the Times and Lovesexy. The sexually aggressive nature of his lyrics and his performances helped drive album sales and drive demand for tour tickets. They also made him an easy target for media and constant powder keg for Warners Bros. By the beginning of the 1990s Prince had adopted a symbol without any known pronunciation as his stage name in protest for what he felt was a constant restraining influence from Warners Bros. the result was a quick release of albums, saturating the market with Prince or the Artist Formerly Known as Prince albums. Record sales bottomed out and the sale of concert tickets waned, but eventually Prince was freed from the contract. The 21st century gave the Artist a chance to start over. He began by reclaiming his name, Prince and followed through by releasing material on his own label. His biggest independent hit by far was Musicology in 2004. The Musicology tour marked his return to the forefront of entertainers as Prince tickets topped the grosses for the year. In 2006 he moved from his label to Universal and has since released to albums, 3121 and Planet Earth, with a third due, Lotusflow3r, due out in 2009. His upcoming album is being hyped throughout the Internet and with a three concert date mini tour in Los Angeles at the end of March. OnlineSeats will have the Prince tickets for those shows and the ensuing tour for the new album once the dates are announced.
