|
The famous duo who had been consistently playing together since 1988; eventually they added talented drummer Jay Lane in 1994. After initial preparation band saw the coming of the legendary blues pianist Johnnie Johnson, who entered in the band after a year later? The other talented harmonica player Matthew Kelly joined the band still later. That's how started the great journey and from this came the Ratdog. Ratdog played their first successful show on 22 April 1995. Then the band members were: Jay Lane (drums), Bob Weir (guitar, vocals), Rob Wasserman (bass), Matt Kelly (guitar). The entire musicians were talented; but Weir had a perfect vision for the band that some people could not fit into. This was not a good thing for band but the band members continued changing. So, after going through such phases, the band consists of additions such as: Mark Karan, Kenny Brooks, Jeff Chimenti, and Robin Sylvester; after the sudden exclusion of Matt Kelly and Rob Wasserman.
Ratdog's latest offerings include "Evening Moods" that is a motley collection of good music that truly stands apart. This new album opens with a beautiful and soulful song "Bury Me Standing." There are other good tracks like the instrumental track "The Deep nd;" this is a wonderful rendition. The band stands in absolute contrast to these blistering rock tracks as "Corrina" and "Odessa." This remarkable band has more than proved its worth. Whenever, Ratdog performs live, it's a pure delight to watch.
