The city of Reading is located in the state of Pennsylvania, United States. Reading falls in the Berks County and is the county-seat of the same. According to the 2005 Census Bureau estimates, the city covers an area of 83,463, making it the fifth most populous city in the state of Pennsylvania.

Reading is situated at the center of the 'Greater Reading Area' in the southern portiono of Pennsylvania and is popular by its nicknames of 'Pretzel City' and 'Baseballtown'. The city was named after the town of Reading in England. As per the United States Census Bureau, the city covers a total area of 10.1 square miles, of which 97.61% is land.

Reading is bordered by the Schuylkill River, Mount Penn and Neversink Mountains to its west, east and south, respectively. It has a prominent shopping culture and is a major tourist location. A major tourist attraction of the city is the 'Reading Public Museum', which is an art, science and history museum.

Reading has an exceedingly prominent baseball culture and over the years, it has given produced many famous baseball players. Presently, some accomplished sporting teams from the city are the baseball team 'Reading Phillies', the hockey team 'Reading Royals', the football club 'Reading Express' and the basketball team 'Reading Railers'.
