Robyn is the Swedish pop star born on June 12, 1979 and raised in Stockholm. She seemed destined to perform before millions in some fashion since both her parents were actors. Her first taste of the professional music experience came in the early 1990s after she recorded the theme song Lilla Sportspegeln, the song is loosely translated as "You Can Always Be Number One." Soon after she pursued a career in the recording industry, signing with RCA in 1995. Though she would not become an instant long-lasting success, she would sell the first Robyn tickets of her career.

Incredibly she began to receive international recognition by the age of 16. She broke through in Sweden with the singles "Do You Really Want Me" and "You've Got That Something." Robyn's popularity crossed the vast Atlantic Ocean with dance-pop hits "do You Know (What It Takes)" and "Show Me Love" in 1997. The singles breached the top 10 on the Billboard 200. The same singles made a huge impact in the UK. In 1998 this burgeoning career careened off track when she was diagnosed with exhaustion after touring and recording around the clock throughout the year.

The break hindered her rise to fame in the U.S. after the initial success of her debut album, Robyn is Here. She remained a popular artist in Sweden after the release of an incredibly personal sophomore album, My Truth (1999). The album spoke of more than simply the trials and tribulations of young love and heartache. It touched on a secret abortion in "Universal Woman" and "Giving You Back." It kept her in the musical minds of her homeland and continental Europe, faltering in English speaking markets and in album sales. Her debut had been a platinum success in Sweden and the U.S., but failed to earn any certification for her second full-length effort.

Robyn's third album Don't Stop the Music dropped on October 30, 2002 and peaked at Number 2 on the Swedish charts, concurrently reaching platinum status in the country. Elsewhere, the album barely became a footnote. The singles "Keep This Fire Burning" and the album's title track failed to chart anywhere but in Scandinavia. Robyn tickets sold with much less enthusiasm too.
