The city of San Bernardino is located in the state of California, United States. San Bernardino falls in the San Bernardino County and is also the county seat of the same. According to the 2006 estimates, the population of the city stands at 205,010, making it the 18th most populous city in the state of California and the 101st one in the entire United States.

San Bernardino is one of the principal cities of the 'San Bernardino-Ontario Metropolitan Area', which is popularly referred to as the 'Inland Empire'. As per the United States Census Bureau, the city covers a total area of 153.5 km², which is 99.26% land. San Bernardino lies on the foothills of the San Bernardino mountains. The mountains along with San Bernardino National Forest are some important geographical features of the city.

The city is the venue for numerous annual events, such as Route 66 Rendez-vousm, the 'Berdoo Bikes & Blues Rendezvous' and the Western Regional Little League Championships. It also has an active sporting culture and is the home of accomplished sporting clubs and teams, such as the baseball club 'Inland Empire 66ers' and the women's volleyball team San Bernardino Jazz. Sporting venues in the city are the 'Orange Show Speedway' and the 'Al Houghton Stadium'.
