The city of Santa Rosa is located in the state of California, United States. Santa Rosa falls in the Sonoma County and is also the county-seat of the same. According to the 2007 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city stands at 157,985, making it the most populous city is California's Wine Country and the fifth most populous city in the San Francisco Bay area.

Santa Rosa is a part of the Santa Rosa's Metropolitan Statistical Area and lies in the North Bay region on the Santa Rosa Plains. As per the United States Census Bureau estimates, the city covers a total area of 40.37 sq miles, of which 99.38% is land.
