The city of Sarnia is located in the state of Ontario, Canada. Sarnia falls in the Lambton County. It falls in the southwestern portion of the state if Ontario and as per the 2006 Census, the population of the city stands at 71,419.

Sarnia is the largest city on the Lake Huron and is situated where the three upper Great Lakes empty into the St. Clair River. The city's name was derived after the Latin name of Guernsey in the Channel Islands. As per Census Bureau estimates, the city covers an area of 63.6 sq miles, of which 100% is land.

The city's port has come under considerable prominence and is an important center for trading of grain and petroleum products. It is the largest community in the Lambton county. The city hosts a number of annual events and festivals. The 'Celebration of Lights' in the Centennial Park is an especially famous festival. Another popular festival, is the 'Sarnia Bayfest', which is an concert festival that features rock bands. Over the years, many prominent bands have performed in the festival, such as 'Bon Jovi', 'The Black Crowes', 'Motley Crue', 'Kid Rock', 'Aerosmith', 'Def Leppard', 'Our Lady Peace', 'David Lee Roth', 'The Foo Fighters', 'The Guess Who', 'Blink 182', 'Sum 41'and 'Collective Soul'.

Sarnia is also home to the talented Ontario Hockey League team 'Sarnia Sting'. Over the years, many feature films have been shot in this city, such as the 1991 film 'Renaissance Man', 'Bless the Child'(2000) and Michael Moore's 'Bowling for Columbine'(2004).
