Scott Alan Stapp was born on August 8, 1973 as Anthony Scott Flippen. He was formerly front man of the band Creed. He is known to be very religious and this can be seen in his songs. He spent his early childhood in Orlando, Florida which is also the place of his birth.
Stapp pursued his higher education from Lee College in Cleveland, Tennessee. His problems with drugs started here, he was expelled from the college for marijuana usage. He was recently split from his band Creed after 10 years. He is now pursuing a solo career. He has also been very open about discussing his previous problems and his return to his faith, Christianity. He says that his greatest inspiration has been Jim Morrison of "The Doors." He got to perform with the surviving members of the band in a concert in 1999, and was also part of the Stoned Immaculate tribute album.

Stapp, 32, founded the rock band Creed and won a Grammy Award in 2000 for the song "With Arms Wide Open." After the disintegration Creed, Stapp released his debut solo album The Great Divide on November 22, 2005. It peaked at #19 on Billboard's Top 200 chart. When questioned about the reasons for his split with Creed he said that he felt like he was doing most of the work, he was the leading vocalist and wrote practically all the songs. He shouldered the burden of handling the burgeoning egos and keeping the band together. He felt he gave too much and go nothing back.
