The city of Shreveport is located in the state of Louisiana, United States. Shreveport falls in the two counties of Caddo Parish and Bossier Parish and is also the county seat of the former. According to the 2000 Census, the population of the city stands at 200,145, making it the 99th most populous city in the country.

Shreveport is a principal city of the 'Shreveport-Louisiana Metropolitan Area' and is also regarded as the commercial as well a the cultural center of the area popularly referred to as Ark-La-Tex (signifying the area where the states Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas meet). Shreveport is closely related to the neighboring Bossier city and many refer to the two jointly as 'Shreveport-Bossier'. As per the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 117.8 square miles, of which 87.56% is land.

The Louisiana boardwalk is also a popular tourist spot and features a shopping and entertainment complex.
