The city of Sioux is located in the state of Iowa, United States. Sioux City falls in the Woodbury county and is also the county-seat of the same. According to the 2000 United States Census, the city has a population of 90,013. However, 2006 estimates indicate that the population has come down to 83,262.

Sioux City is situated in the northwestern portion of Iowa at the head of the river of Missouri and is a part of the 'Sioux City, IA-NE-SD Metropolitan Statistical Area'. In the year 2005, Sioux City got the major honor of being awarded 'one of the inaugural Iowa Great Places designations', along with the cities of Coon Rapids and Clinton. As per the United States Census Bureau, the city covers a total area of 56.0 square miles, of which 97.94% is land.
