Skillet is the Christian rock band that has been rewriting what being a Christian rock band means since 1996. The band formed as a side project by John Cooper and Ken Steorts when they were between groups, and quickly became a successful modern Christian music venture. Now, though Steorts has left the group, Skillet tickets are on sale nearly every summer as they spread the word of God through progressive rock.
The original lineup for Skillet was just a threesome. Cooper sang, Steorts played guitar, and Trey McClurkin played drums. Over a decade later only Cooper remains. His wife, Korey, plays rhythm guitar and keyboard, Ben Kasica plays lead guitar, and Jon Ledger plays drums.

Skillet has released five studio albums, the most recent being Awake, released in 2009. Over the decade plus playing together, Skillet has changed from a grunge sound to a softer alternative rock sound to its current existence as a hard rock, part electonica rock group that tours with other Christian rock groups as well as bands like Shinedown and Puddle of Mudd.
