The village of Skokie is located in the state of Illinois, United States. Skokie falls in the Cook County and is a suburb of the city of Chicago. According to the 2000 United States Census, the population of the city stands at 63,348.

Skokie is situated at the border of the city of Chicago and is bordered by the villages of Evanston, Chicago, Lincolnwood, Niles, Morton Grove, Glenview and Wilmette. In the 2004, the city got the honor of being named among the 80 fastest-growing suburbs in the country by the 'Money' magazine. As per the United States Census Bureau, the city covers a total area of 10.0 square miles, all of which is land.

The city is a popular tourist location and features many attractions. The Skokie Park District is especially popular amongst tourists and locals alike and features natural resources as well as historical sites. The park is also the venue of the famous 'Skokie Festival of Cultures'. The sculpture garden in the city is also equally famous and popular amongst tourists. The garden was found in the year 1988 and currently, it features over 70 sculptures.

Skokie also has an active cultural tradition and is home to the famous 'North Shore Center for the Performing Arts', which features the 'Center East' and the 'Northlight Theater'. The famous 'Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra' is from this city. Skokie is a popular film shooting destination and over the years, many films have been shot in the city, such as 'Risky Business', 'Sixteen Candles', 'The Weather Man' and 'She's Having A Baby'.
