Slackers
The Slackers is one of the most popular bands that sprang forth from the New York City ska scene. The band has rocked the music world with a mix of ska, rocksteady, reggae, dub, soul, swing, garage rock and jazz sound. The band solidified its fan base with its electrifying live performances. Wherever the band performed, be it North America, Europe, or any other country, it was greeted with great enthusiasm.

Artist Biography - Slackers
|
Formed in Brooklyn in 1991, the Slackers comprised of vocalist Marq Lyn, vocalist/ keyboardist Vic Ruggerio, guitarist T.J. Scanlon, bassist Marcus Geard, saxophonist David Hillyard, trumpeter Jeremy Mushlin, trombonist Glen Pine, and drummer Luis Zuluaga. The band started on its musical journey by playing rocksteady and ska in the 2-Tone vein. Over a period of time, the band moved towards a more traditional style and even added a horn section in 1994. The band came out with its first LP 'Better Late than Never' in 1996, which was highly appreciated. Just a year later, the band came out with its second effort 'Redlight'. Every release was followed by extensive touring. The band released its third album 'The Question' in 1998, which was followed by 'Live at Ernesto's' in 2000. By now, the band had already established itself in the music world. In 2001, the band appeared with yet another release 'Wasted Days' which had a cover version of Bon Jovi's hit 'Wanted Dead or Alive'. After the 9/11 incident and related events, the band came out with 'Close My Eyes', which became a success. In 2006 the band came out with another album 'Peculiar', which was followed by 'The Boss Harmony Sessions' in 2007.
Apart from working on its own album and touring, the band also had many side projects like David Hillyard & The Rocksteady Seven, Crazy Baldhead Sound System, Da Whole Thing, the SKAndalous All Stars as well as an acoustic solo project by Vic Ruggiero. Vic Ruggiero, Jay Nugent, and David Hillyard were also part of the NYC Ska band 'Stubborn All-Stars' headed by frontman King Django.
