 This new version of the Portland Timbers began its foundation back in 2007, when Merritt Paulson headed a group and lobbied for public support for a new soccer franchise and renovations to the old PGE Park to accommodate the new team. Four years later, the first Portland Timbers tickets for the 2011 Timbers schedule have been sold.
