The city of South Bend is located in the state of Indiana, United States. South Bend falls in the St. Joseph County and is also the county-seat of the same. According to the 2000 United Census, the city has a population of 107,789, making it the fourth most populous city in the state of Indiana.

The city's name is derived from the fact that it lies on the southern most turn of the river of St. Joseph.
