Stellastarr is a rock band from New York. The band members actually met each other at Manhattan's Pratt Institute of the Arts in the 1990's. Stellastarr consist of vocalist and guitarist Shawn Christensen, drummer Arthur Kremer and bassist Amanda Tannen. All three became friends and formed the band Ghistor. As they had just learned to master their instruments and the band was a great way to practice and sharpen their skills.

The forming of the band was a casual move but it turned out to be a musical journey for the eager threesome. The three graduated from the Institute and began took their separate paths. But the bond has already been formed and the three came together in the spring of 2000. They added Micheal Jurin, the ex-member of Charlotte's Funeral, to their line-up. Thus Stellastarr was born.
The band signed up with Tiswas in 2002 and the band released the EP "Somewhere Across Forever" the next year. Their self titled debut album, "Stellastarr" was released in 2003.
