She is the former lead singer of Fleetwood Mac. She is the woman whose voice has enchanted millions. She is one side of a love triangle that will go down in rock and roll history. She is Stevie Nicks and she has proven her ability as a solo artist. Stevie Nicks concert tickets now sell in the hundreds of thousands and albums sell in the millions. Stevie has come quite a way from the girl born Stephanie Lynn Nicks on May 26, 1948 in Phoenix, Arizona. That girl learned to sing with her grandfather, a failed country singer, and grew in a protective household in which she was encouraged to foster a love of fairy tales. Then she adopted Stevie, unable to pronounce her name correctly. She also moved quite often as the child of a business executive. The result of all this was a very dramatic girl who felt as if she lived in a world set apart from everyone else's. Naturally, Nicks became drawn to the world of performance, a place in which her penchant to dream drew praise. This world is also where she met her first love, Lindsey Buckingham. The two met in her senior year of high school and immediately began performing together at a party. It would take a few years, but eventually these two would meet together as part of a band. This prompted a move to Los Angeles in 1968. Stevie Nicks and Buckingham opened for acts like Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin in the various innervations of bands. In 1975, both performers joined Fleetwood Mac. Stevie Nicks became the voice of a group selling millions of albums and millions of concert tickets. Famously, her time with the band ended shortly after the tumultuous Rumours tour. Though Fleetwood Mac would continue, Stevie began her pursuit of a solo career, beginning with the album Bella Donna. The album, released in 1981, went to number one on the charts and would be certified platinum four times over. She thrived as a solo artist in the 1980s, adding platinum albums The Wild Heart, Rock a Little, and the Other Side of the Mirror to her personal discography. "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around", "Leather and Lace", "Stand Back", and "Talk to Me" became huge hits. Like many artists, her popularity began to wane. The 1990s and the beginnings of the 21st century were a difficult time for her. Eventually a renewed interest in Fleetwood Mac inspired a renewed interest in Stevie Nicks. Now she has released another solo album, In Your Dreams, and she has toured with Rod Stewart twice on The Heart and Soul Tours.
