With seven shows in productions and no allegiance to any one hotel and resort chain, the Canadian entertainment troupe may be the most popular collective attraction on the Strip off the casino floors. However, one is remiss to forget the individual who has created two of those seven shows, one of his own, and one of the best selling residencies in the history of the city. Elvis may have been the king of rock and roll and he may be ubiquitous on the Strip, but he is neither royalty nor omnipresent with the famed Cirque du Soleil. Cirque du Soleil Viva Elvis is scheduled to take an extended hiatus in January to accommodate a reboot for the struggling production.

Cirque du Soleil has returned to the New York stage with Zarkana, its first production in the Big Apple since last year’s financial disaster Banana Spheel. This time around the Cirque du Soleil production is taking a $50 million, 800,000 pound stage risk at the Radio City Music Hall, one that will require they sell 6,000 Zarkana tickets for every performance just to break even.

It was a bittersweet day for fans of the famous illusionists, Siegfried and Roy. The two performed their final performance together in Las Vegas Saturday night along with the infamous white Bengal tiger, Montecore. The final performance took place at the Bellagio hotel and casino and was for a benefit for the new Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. Previously the two had done all their performances for the last 13 years at The Mirage but have not been back there since the incident with Roy and Montecore. The entire performance with be on 20/20 this Friday night.

Move over Penn and Teller, Britney Spears has the newest magic show in town. You will be in for more than just the pop princess belting out her new music at her new Circus tour. She is going to also be taking on the role of magicians assistant. Britney will work alongside magician/comedian Ed Alonzo who says he will be sawing Britney in half as well as making her disappear into thin air. Britney has really taken to the magic and will even be performing her own tricks. The “Circus Tour” kicks of next week in New Orleans and Britney is ready. She is in top form, her body looks great, and the show promises to be amazing.  Concert goers are going to get their own mini Cirque du Soleil show thrown in with their concert. It is going to be a high tech, 3 ring circus extravaganza, and the fans will not be disappointed.
