Just as I predicted, there was definitely a bit of excitement when it came to Eminem and the “MTV Movie Awards” last night. Eminem actually walked out of the awards show after a run in with Bruno, the gay Australian fashion reporter (a.k.a. Sacha Baron Cohen) who after flying through the air landed right on Eminem with his backside wrapped around Eminem’s face. Well, you can imagine that did not go over very well and Eminem had a few choice words to say and stormed out. Somehow controversy just seems to surround those two. Before the incident Eminem did a very good medley of two songs from his new album “Relapse” which was quite entertaining. Besides Eminem, “Twilight” really rocked the house with the most awards. It won “Best Movie”, Kristen Stewart won “Best Female Performance”, Robert Pattinson won for “Breakthrough Performance for a Male” and “Best Kiss” also went to the pair Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. In addition “Twilight” also won for “Best Fight” between Robert Pattinson and Cam Gigandet. There were even a few other winners for the night. My favorite MTV award nights are when Jim Carrey wins and give his always amusing acceptance speech and this year he won for “Best Comedic Performance” – of course. Heath Ledger won for “Best Villain” and funny girl Amy Poehler won for “Best WTF Moment” for Peeing in the Sink in her movie, “Baby Mama”. And no award show seems to be complete these days without Miss Miley Cyrus and she won “Best Song” for “The Climb” from “Hannah Montana: The Movie”. Funny man Ben Stiller won the “Generation Award” for the evening and he so deserves it, he is pretty great!! So as always MTV delivered a funny and entertaining and never quite know what to expect kind of evening.
more...It was a very close race but in the end Ashton Kutcher beat out CNN in the race to 1 million Twitter followers. It was so close that only 30 minutes separated the two. Congratulations Ashton that is a pretty amazing feat. Now I wouldn’t want to be the one to say that perhaps Ashton is getting a big head but here is what he had to say about the win. “This is David versus Goliath. This just shows how people want to get information. It is about us. It means that one man can have a voice as loud as a media network.” Well the good news is that not only did Twitter and Ashton break the first 1 million follower goal; Ashton is sticking to his word and will be donating 10,000 mosquito nettings for beds for World Malaria Day. Next up on Twitter is Oprah. She actually started tweeting on Friday. When Oprah speaks people listen…literally. In her first 15 minutes she had 76,000 followers and within her first hour over 125,000 followers. How long until she passes 1 million?
more...I warn you I am on a bit of a tirade this morning after this story I just read. And for the record maybe it is just too much coffee but I must tell you about this. Not exactly celebrity gossip but I promise if you hear me out I will get to that. For the record, after reading this latest story I may never get a good night’s sleep again. This story definitely needs to be filed under the topic…what were they thinking?? Ok basically here is the gist; it seems that Burmese python pet owners who have become overwhelmed with their pet snakes are apparently letting them loose in the Florida Everglades. A whole team has been put together called the “Python Patrol” to catch these things that are not only threatening the eco system and eating all the animals in site, but seem to be making their way into the Florida Keys. Oh that is so not ok!!! Where do I even begin, these snakes (and let me tell you I cannot even look at the pictures) can grow to over 20 feet long and weigh over 200 pounds and can live up to 30 years. They have been known to eat a 5 foot long alligator whole and even a bobcat. They can travel up to almost 2 miles a day and already 8 have been found in the Florida Keys. So this group has been put together to learn how to capture them and respond quickly if people find them. They hope to find them and stop them from breeding which could really turn into a big problem. At this point there are already an estimated 30 THOUSAND of these pythons living in the Everglades National Park. So people if you have one or know anyone who has one of these as a pet, tell them if you do not want it call for help do not let it go free, seriously not a good solution. People do not want to find one of these in their backyard or worse in their house. I shudder at the thought! Plus that can’t be all that good for tourism in the Keys now can it?
