From her tour opener at the New York State Fair to her revealing dress at the MTV VMAs, singer/actress/model Selena Gomez has come a long way from her Disney roots. She has entered Britney Spears territory, attempting to clarify to the world that she is no longer the same young actress from “Wizards of Waverly Place”. No she is a fully legal young woman who demands the right to dress and acts as she desires without having to look to her fans’ parents for approval before they purchase Selena Gomez tickets.

This year’s MTV Video Music Awards will be televised on September 12, 2010 at 9 p.m. and it will have a definite dominant musical theme: hip hop. More specifically, safe hip hop. Despite the plans to feature performances by Trey Songz and Ne-Yo, two performers who can claim some kind of street cred, the big names are Justin Bieber, Kanye West, and Drake.

Conan O’Brien welcomed his first cast from a Broadway musical to perform on his show last night. The cast from “Hair”, all 50 members flew from New York to L.A. to perform on their day off. The performance was choreographed special just for Conan’s shows and new set. They looked like they were having a great time and if you haven’t seen the show, just watching the cast made you want to run out and do so.  There is something about all the peace and love of the 60’s that is just magical, not to mention those clothes. “Hair” actually won a Tony Award this year for Best Revival of a Musical. Watch the cast sing the title song, “Hair” and “Let the Sunshine In” from Conan last night.
