The nature of success for a Broadway musical has remained quite the same since the advent of film. First, a show makes to Broadway and sells out, quickly recouping the producers’ investment. Then a national tour is launched. In the post-Lion King world of big budget theater this means that the Broadway show and the tour run concurrently. Add a West End run and then all this leads to a big budget production of a different kind, the kind that graces the silver screen. Kate Hudson turned 30 this weekend and in true celebrity fashion had a party filled with celebrities. Some of the A – listers at the party included the Kutchers (Ashton and Demi), Jessica Alba and hubby Cash Warren, Gwyneth Paltrow and hubby Chris Martin from Coldplay, Justin Timberlake, Evan Mendes, Adam Sandler, Zach Braff, Gwen Stefani and Cher. The couple dined on crispy catfish and pistachio chicken, and they may have even snuck in a piece of gooey crunchy pecan pie. It seems that in order to stay in touch with friends and keep the family grounded the First Family plans to fly home about every 6 weeks to Chicago. Hmmm… I wonder who pays for those trips home on Air Force One. Don’t get me wrong, I am happy for the love birds to have a romantic dinner together in their home town, and I love the Obama’s, I was just curious.
