The orchestra rose to world prominence by holding the world premieres of works by Sally Beamish and Alec Roth. After an absence to many years, the orchestra made a comeback in 1997 and returned to its spiritual home, the church of St. Martin-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square. The orchestra continues to perform on the South Bank and in halls around the country – from Birmingham and Glasgow to Truro, Baldock and King's Lynn.
