The Art Laboe Show
"The Art Laboe Show" is the number one radio program in the Los Angles area. "The Art Laboe Sunday Special" is heard every Sunday over a network of stations from 6-12 Midnight PST. Besides, it is also heard worldwide through the Internet. The famous Internet site is KillerOldies.com through which the program reaches throughout the world.
The pioneering figure behind the success of this program is Art Laboe. Art was the first Disc Jockey to play Rock and Roll on the West Coast airwaves, was one of the first DJs to play both black and white artists and the first DJ to have an "Elvis Hour," the entire hour devoted to Elvis Presley. Art compiled the first album in American history to feature hits by different artists. This first compilation album, entitled "Oldies But Goodies," was released by Art's company, Original Sound Record Company, Incorporated, and stayed on Billboard's Top 100 LP's chart for over three years! The series has been expanded to 15 volumes. Art is also recognized as the first person to coin the term "Oldies But Goodies™." Laboe got the Lifetime Achievement Award in September, 2004 from the National Hispanic Media Coalition. The City of Los Angeles declared July 17, 1981 "Art Laboe Day" as Art received his star on Hollywood Boulevard's "Walk of Fame." Art Laboe is very much acclaimed for creating the oldies format in radio, and his music sense directly reflects the HOT 92 Jamz philosophy of playing a perfect mix of Old School Favorites along with R&B Hits of Today.
