The Bobs
Humorous lyrics and avant-garde arrangement techniques are the trademarks of The Bobs. The Bobs is one of the most revered bands ever came. This lively band was grouped in San Francisco, California and is often tagged as "New Wave". The band revolutionized the pop music as they rocked the world with songs like "Helter Skelter"- The Beatles and "Psycho Killer"- Talking Heads instead of traditional doo-wop songs. This innovative technique made them very popular among the teen, that's why tickets to their concerts were hard to fetch. Talking about their two albums, both of them were entirely dominated by covers and the songs usually discussed varied subjects like sleepy bus drivers, celebrity autographs, synaesthesia, hurricane-related flooding, laundry, rebellious footwear, Oliver North, shopping-mall security guards, lunar cattle farming, Heaven's Gate, spontaneous human combustion, post office violence, tattoos, turtles, nicknames for genitalia, bumper stickers, graffiti and felines intent on ruling the world.
The Bobs have the reputation of breaking the monotony as several times they have broken with a cappella tradition along with the instruments. And the best example is the album released in 1995 titled "Plugged" which was completely backed by toy drums. Furthermore, it also made full use of various studio equipments just to resemble the sound with guitars and bass guitars. However, their album "Coaster" included a rock rhythm section on one song. Whatever may be the instruments used, this original band always make the full use of their mouths, hands, feet and "other body parts". This makes them fill a room with a sound as big as an orchestra. To your surprise there's a history behind the name "Bob". If you notice carefully all the band members always use "Bob" as their middle name. Literally the name is described as an acronym for "Best of Breed" which is an award distributed at dog shows.
