The Gracious Few is the mash up of the remnants of Live and Candlebox, making this band another super group to emerge from the wreckage of the break up of a band from the 1990s. The Gracious Few was originally intended to be a side project taken up during Live's two year hiatus. Then, once Live lead singer started demanding extra financial incentive to perform as well as sole rights to songs, The Gracious Few became the sole endeavor for Chad Taylor (guitarist), Chad Gracey (drummer), and Patrick Dahleimer (bassist). Kevin Martin (lead singer) and Sean Hennesy (guitarist) still regard the project as a side show to their primary group, Candlebox. Still, main focus or side project, the Gracious Few tickets have sold well for the first few shows in the summer of 2010 and will likely sellout once the group takes to the road on a more extensive tour to close out the year.
TGF originally formed because Taylor, Gracey, and Dahleimer needed a singer for new material they had written. They contacted Gacey's friend and Candlebox lead singer Kevin Martin. The only thing missing was a guitarist ready to perform solos. That guitarist used to be Gracey, but he stated he no longer felt the desire to do so, thus Candlebox guitarist Sean Hennesy joined the Gracious Few.
The Gracious Few went to work in the studios first. Produced by Talking Heads songwriter and producer Jerry Harrison and mixed by three-time Grammy winner Tom Lord-Alge, the eponymous debut album, the band created an album that straddles the line between hard rock and alternative, careful to avoid sounding like Nickelback as well as joining the ranks of the innumerable Indie rock bands out there.
