The Living End
Having taken the whole of Australia by storm with their debut album, the band issued its second successful album ‘Roll On' in 2000. The album got rave reviews for being a remarkably creative work. The band unarguably proved their potential and versatility. Year 2001, however, proved inauspicious for the band as Chris Cheney met with an accident. This resulted in a brief period of inactivity for the band. Travis Demsey also departed from the band in 2002, just after Chris joined back after his treatment. Fortunately, Andy Strachan, a gifted drummer, joined the band as Demsey's replacement soon afterwards. The band staged a fabulous comeback by releasing the EP's ‘One Said to the Other' (2002) and ‘Who's Gonna Save Us?' (2003). Fetchingly titled ‘MODERN ARTILLERY', the band's third album was out in 2003. The band again set new standards of creativity with this album mixing a variety of styles that included punk pop, country music, 60's rock n' roll etc. Toward, the end of 2004, the band's collection of singles ‘From Here On In' was issued which was a commercial success. This collection included two new tracks ‘I Can't Give You What I Haven't Got' and ‘Bringing It All Back Home'. Chris Cheney and Scott Owen belted the Best Guitarist and Best Bassist awards respectively in the Jack Awards, The band's fourth and latest album ‘State of Emergency' was released early in 2006. It has turned out to be a big hit. The band's already great popularity has surged further. The band has once again shown a tendency to create something new and different than their earlier work. The band's first two singles ‘What's on Your Radio?' and ‘Wake Up' have received a whopping response.

The Living End made history back in 1998 with the record sales of their self-titled debut album. Since then the band has shown no signs of complacency. The band continues to work hard and create outstanding music. Though the band is based in Australia but they have a huge fan following in countries like the USA, Canada, New Zealand and in Europe. The band was formed in 1994 by old pals Chris Cheney and Scott Owen. The duo had earlier formed a band named Runaway Boys, but changed the name to The Living End after recruiting Joe Piripitzi as drummer. The band got their first real exposure when they performed with Green Day during their Australian tour in 1995. After this tour, the band recorded a couple of EP's. Around this time, Joe Piripitzi was replaced with a much more talented drummer, Travis Demsey. The fresh trio toured through Australia for about a year gaining popularity. The band's third EP ‘Second Solution/Prisoner of Society' was a major hit and shot to No. 1 position on the charts garnering 1998 ARIA Award. Year 1998 marked the arrival of the band with a bang. In this year, the band's debut album ‘The Living End' was released which went on to make history becoming the highest selling album of the time. This album is new 5 * platinum certified. The Living End also bagged the ARIA awards for Best Group and Best New Artist in 1999.
