The Paper Chase
The Paper Chase tickets are tickets to see a group from Dallas that creatively combines discordant melody and jagged noise pop. The group, formed by John Congleton in Dallas in 1998 has been best described by Allmusic. The music website has called the unique calamitous sound "a jagged structure of avant-garde jazz, noise, indie, and punk."
Congleton, a producer and music engineer, has been responsible for all of the Paper Chase's productions. His voice, his lyrics, and his imagination have been the driving force for the group. Bobby Weaver, the bassist, has the rare honor of co-writing songs with Congleton. He and Congleton co-wrote "A Face That Could Launch a Thuosand Ships" and "Off with Their Heads."
Weaver, Congleton, Sean Kirkpatrick (synthesizer, piano), and Jason Garner (drums) are the official members of the group. Though they may be the ones fans see with the Paper Chase tickets, Kris Youmans (cello), Becki Phares (violin), Elliot Figg (piano), and Danny Berger (viola) are the instruments in the studio that complete this avant-garde sound.
