Artist Biography - The Quilts
|
The Quilts, from Chicago's south side play a creative mix of soulful rock 'n' roll, old school country, and eclectic bar room romp. Lead by the pop aesthesis of singer songwriter Dana Okon, The Quilts are rocking the Chicago music scene. Dana had been rocking the Chicago club circuit for over 8 years, with his band 'Forty Piece Choir'. He is just not a musician par excellence but a wonderful husband, father, reverend and a brilliant scholar. His different roles reflect in his songs, his lyrics are beautiful. He takes the breath away of listeners during his live shows. This multifaceted man collaborated with Ryan DeYoung in 2003, to form The Quilts. The duo had been friends and mates since 1997.
Ryan, a veteran and popular Chicago drummer has been part of bands like Winepress, The Mushuganas, Wolcott and Forty Piece Choir. DeYoung is also a loving family man as well as psychologist, so the two like minded duo hit it off instantly. Ryan's brother, R.J. an excellent musician was roped in to be the soul and bass of The Quilts. R.J. had started off pretty early in life, at the age of 12 he started playing in 'Winepress' and presently, apart from The Quilts, plays for the band Made In Hollywood'. Many in the Chicago club circuit consider him, to be the James Dean of the new century. In the beginning guitarist/violinist and good friend Brian Lee handled the lead guitar. After two years he quit the band and has been replaced by Eddie Jones, aka Johnny Crisis and also known as Mr. Charisma. The new guitarist has given the band a more mature sound. Eddie has a great experience and had previously performed with acts such as The Argus, Wolcott, and currently The Resonators.
