The Rembrandts
It's time to get your tickets to see a band that has won audiences and fans all around the world and has also made one of the biggest sitcoms in the world incredibly catchy and hummable- it's time to get tickets to see The Rembrandts live in concert.
The Rembrandts have been together much longer than most people know- consisting of the duo of Danny Wilde and Phil Solem, the band was originally formed under the name Great Buildings way back in 1981. The duo was known for their hard work ethic and good time gigs that reflected a music that was laid back and easy to listen to. The lyrics were also about everyday themes that everyone could identify with. There was no heavy duty make up, screaming guitars, excessive bubble gum pop or extreme distortion. In fact, The Rembrandts are the perfect band to listen to when you're just enjoying a drink with your friends.
The band released their first self-titled album in 1990 which spawned a huge radio hit 'Just the Way It Is Baby' that same year. By then, The Rembrandts were becoming a recognizable name on the gigging circuit, on TV and on the charts. However, the band got their real boost when one of their numbers 'I'll Be There For You' was used as the theme song for an upcoming sitcom called Friends. Hopes were not very high for the show and whoever heard of a theme song hitting the top twenty on the Billboard charts? Well that was exactly what this single did. Even though it was not officially released as a single, the song soared to the number 17 spot on the Billboard charts. It also hit the UK charts, hitting the number three spot in 1995 and number five spot in 1997.
