The Ting Tings are the British band that captures the audience's attention with a simple beat and lyrics that are closer to chants than ballads. The two found their name thanks to a local Chinese friend who noted that her first name is pronounced like the old bandstand in her native Mandarin. The Ting Tings had found a name and a style with Jules De Martino on the drums and Kate White playing everything from the keyboard to the guitar. Jules handles the producing though.
By 2008, the group had found regular rotation on BBC 6 Music, thanks to an appearance on Later with Jools Holland. Their popularity skyrocketed and again BBC would help them take the next step after appearing on BBC Radio Manchester's Introducing. The Ting Tings tickets would become available shortly after as they played summer festivals like Glastonbury and many smaller shows across the UK.
