The Word Alive is the metalcore band from Phoenix, Arizona that formed in 2008 and has quickly risen in prominence in a genre defined as a hybrid of metal and hardcore punk and whose place is in the murky middle between fanatically underground and brazenly selling out to the mainstream. The Word Alive tickets are available now to see this band as they tour in 2010 to promote their debut album Deceiver.
Craig Mabbitt, Zack Hansen, and Tony Pizzuti began this band as the remnants from the fallout after the disbanding of Calling of Syrens. Quickly recruiting Dusty Riach, Tony Aguilera, and Nick Urlacher, The Word Alive put together an EP and found a place in the metalcore community. Mabbitt's quick expulsion from the band in 2008 left many fans confused, especially after conflicting messages from TWA and the former lead singer. The group soldiered on and signed with Fearless with Tyler Smith as the new lead singer.
As of now, The Word Alive comes to the stage with this lineup: Tyler "Telle" Smith as the lead singer, Zack Hansen as a guitarist and sometimes back up singer, Tony Pizzuti adding another layer of guitar and vocals, Nick Urlacher as the bass guitarist, Dusty Riach as the keyboardist, and Justin Salinas as the drummer (replacing Tony Aguilera in 2010).
