Millions have seen Avatar at the movie theaters, many of those witnessed the 2009 film in 3D. Now rumors are abound speculating on the likelihood of an Avatar Broadway production. Then, people would get Avatar tickets for a whole new 3D experience. The deal is still in the works, according to Movie Viral, but Donald Frantz is set to produce what will certainly be a lavish production that pushes the limits of a live production.
A live theatrical production is far less likely to fail than most people would assume. Frantz helped bring the Lion King and Beauty and the Beast to life for Disney and he is supposedly to be teamed director Julie Taymor. Taymor has had her name attached to the Spider Man musical, but the super hero production seems stuck in development hell. Taymor has worked with Frantz before, bringing the Lion King to life and winning a Tony Award for her efforts. Avatar would certainly have a fighting chance to be something more than fanboy and fangirl fodder if these two names are indeed involved in the development.
