Carol Lawrence
Throughout the 70s and 80s, Lawrence focused mainly on her acting career. She used to perform continually on stage and on television. She starred in a number of television movies such as The Centerfold Murders, Stranger in Our House and Valley of the Dolls. She also performed on stage in New York at the Sylvia and Danny Kaye Playhouse. The production, Puttin' on the Ritz: The Irving Berlin Songbook, was a four-day gig for her. In that she sang songs from her days as Maria in West Side Story. She even sang and danced in some of the favorites of Irving Berlin which includes "Stepping Out With My Baby," "Let Yourself Go," "Always" and "God Bless America.". As usual, her performance was met wide round of applause and appreciation.
In the year 1993, she returned once again on Broadway , where she was replaced for her colleague Chita Rivera in Kiss of the Spider Woman. Rivera was on vacation. Inspite of all these, Lawrence nurture wide range of interests and keeps herself busy with all these. She works with an international relief agency called World Vision. She also performs in nightclubs, on cruise lines and even with several orchestras. She has even made appearances on General Hospital and Murder One.
The Backstage Story, is an autobiography on Lawrence that tells about her life and her career and even tells about her three broken marriages. She has played several guest roles on a number of TV series such as Toast of the Town, Wagon Train, The Danny Kaye Show, The Dean Martin Show, The Bob Hope Hour, Hawaii Five-O, Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, Murder, She Wrote, The Commish, Murder One, Touched by an Angel, Sex and the City, Rawhide, Combat! and Mannix. She has even played a number of roles at The Muny in St. Louis, which includes Lucille Early in No, No, Nanette (1990); Charity in Sweet Charity (1977); Fanny Brice in Funny Girl (1975) . The Muny in St. Louis is the one of the oldest and largest outdoor theater in America.

Carol Lawrence is known for her stylish, magnificent, courtly and energetic performances both on screen and on stage. She was even nominated for Tony Award. Because of her singing and dancing abilities, she is even compared with other talented artists such as larry Kert and Mickey Katz. She has acted on television, film and Broadway. Carol Lawrence real name is Carolina Maria Laraia in Chicago, in the year 1932. From childhood onwards, Lawrence was interested in acting, singing dancing.
She made her first appearance in Broadway in Borscht Capades with Mickey Katz and Phil Foster and was even made the member of the production's chorus. 50s proved to be a rollicking one for Carol. She performed and sang in various movies such as appearing in New Faces of 1952, Plain and Fancy and the City Center production of South Pacific. In the 1957, she acted and sang in the classic West Side Story where she played the role of Maria with Larry Kert, one of the leading man of Broadway. She was highly acclaimed for her role. After this brilliant performance, she also became the member of the chorus in The Ziegfeld Follies starring Beatrice Lillie. Lawrence always felt that a person can learn a lot if they watch other stars performing and as a result would watch Beatrice Lillie perform on stage. In 1960 Lawrence appeared in a TV play The Dybbuk, that was directed by Sidney Lumet. She was quite appreciated for her role and it became one of the much talk about role and even was critically acclaimed.
