Kooza is on the verge of starting their pre-shows from April 19th, 2007 in Montreal and is formally scheduled to premiere on May 3rd, 2007. Kooza will visit Quebec City then Toronto for the last of it's Canadian stops, then will tour onto four U.S. cities protrusive in the Fall. The Mystic Pixies a group of four teenage contortionists, Joshua Ryan Zehner a Clown, Michael Halvarson a comedian and pickpocket entertainer and Jason Berrent from Alegria will be a part of this show.
The name Kooza is perceived from the Sanskrit word "koza," which means "box," "chest" or "treasure," and was selected as one of the fundamental concepts of the production is the idea of a "circus in a box." "Kooza is about human connection and the world of duality, good and bad," says the show's writer and director David Shiner. "The tone is fun and funny, light and open. The show doesn't take itself too seriously, but it's very much about ideas, too. As it evolves we are exploring concepts such as fear, identity, recognition and power."
