He slowly climbs the rungs, eventually went on to becoming Brandt's trusted personal assistant and nearly indispensable advisor. Willy Brandt begins his rather brief but quite remarkable career. Always present along with him but rarely noticed is the irresistible Gunter Guillaume, before the eyes of everyone; Brandt's devoted personal assistant though no less devoted in his prominent role which involves spying. The charming Guillaume is hiding a big secret so explosive in nature that it has the power to entirely destroy Brandt's government and even possibly create dangerous waves affecting both sides of the iron curtain. From the much talented award-winning highly creative team that originally produced Copenhagen, the play comes across as another extremely gripping production that thoroughly lays bare a critical moment in 20th century history. The plot gives us a poignant view of political parties, getting in and out of bed quickly with each other like some drunken intellectuals, numerous warring cabinet ministers, and lot of large egos. This all leads to making deals with nearly each other and then suddenly breaking them. All political characters are trying to vaguely guess which way possibly everyone else will jump. In addition they all are out for there themselves and still dependent on everyone else.
