Do Jump is a modern dance, brainchild of a lady, Robin Lane. Since 1977 Do Jump has metamorphosed into new form of theatre-in-motion, based in Portland, Oregon. In 1983, the historic Echo Theatre, a one time house for silent movie was renovated by Robin Lane and the Company. The Echo in the following year became the headquarters for the Do Jump! Movement School and provides space for rehearsals and performances. Most of the floor and aerial choreography is performed by the group of six core dancers. It provides a platform for Robin Lane to build her collabrative work. Lane has produced 12 full length works and also a number of single piece performances. Her troupe consists of people from diverse fields like visual artists, musicians, composers, actors, and circus performers. They perform her themes with much passion and wit and at the same time performances being visually and aurally diverse.
Do Jump with their unique dance has been able to create a large audience. Apart from touring large parts of West, Portland's Center for the Performing Arts, has also staged their number of performances. The city sponsored events and conferences cannot be devoid of their low tech show. Their workshops are open to all age groups in schools and communities. Do Jump has become very popular with Young Audiences of Oregon, while being a part of "Oregon on Tour" program since 1987. They have also performed on Broadway in New York City, reputed as United States's highest professional theatre. Various members have even performed in the film What the Bleep Do We Know!? which was filmed in Portland, Oregon. Do Jump are also credited for participating in many major events like the closing ceremonies of Nike World Masters Games, Portland's west side light rail opening, and for ArtQuake, Toronto's Winterfest 2003 while the list goes on.
