Eileen who is moving towards late middle age has been dumped by her husband. The play is about the style in which the actors convey these issues. Their desperation is performed with much gracefulness. Phillips thinks that gin martinis can end all the problems of life. Eileen discusses her family experiences of past with May. However as it is said all is well that ends well. The play end on a positive note with the problems of the family become normal. Eden Lane is a play which showcases a story that happens in all homes.
Eden Lane has been directed by Des McAnuff a master of his field. He is a very successful director has directed Broadway musicals like The Who's Tommy and Big River which have been awarded with Tony awards. He was born in Princeton, Illinois on 19th June, 1952. In 1978 he co-founded the Dodger Theater Company in New York. He also directed the first production of the company called Gimme Shelter. He has also directed for American Repertory Theater apart from being an ex faculty member of Julliard School. Des McAnuff was the artistic director for La Jolla Playhouse from 1983 till its revival in 1994. During this time theater received more than 200 awards. He has been the director of Romeo and Juliet, Two Rooms, Three Sisters, Big River, The Sea Gull and many more plays for the La Jolla Playhouse.
