Everyday Rapture is the Broadway show loosely based on the real life journey of Sherie Rene Scott from her childhood in Kansas with her half-Mennonite family to Broadway. Scott wrote the play and describes it as her memoir poorly described as fiction, and a jukebox musical type of fiction at that. She features an eclectic arrangement, with New Wave musician David Byrne, soul group Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, classic Judy Garland tunes, and even a little bit of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. Everyday Rapture tickets are now being sold for its debut on Broadway at the American Airlines Theatre.
The show began Off-Broadway at the Second Stage Theatre on April 7, 2009. Sherie Rene Scott starred and Michael Mayer directed. Sherie's life, on which the musical is based, includes founding two record labels, Sh-K Boom Records and Ghostlight Records, and acting in a number of theatrical productions on and off Broadway.
