Evita is coming back to the stage on Broadway after a major motion picture release, a West End revival, and a couple U.S. tours. Evita tickets for this new production at a Nederlander theater will be a huge draw since the much-beloved Elena Roger is supposedly in line to play the title character. The fate of this show will be decided soon as Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice finalize the deal with the theater. Michael Grandage is reportedly signed on to direct this revival of Evita and Ron Ashford is reportedly signed on as the choreography.

Although originally conceived as a record project, Evita was destined from the beginning for the stage. Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricist Tim Rice provide a rich score which includes the internationally acclaimed hit "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina" and lends itself to the highly theatrical stylings of director Harold Prince. Because of the huge success it had enjoyed in London (2,900 performances in its initial run), the Broadway production of Evita was nearly sold out before it even began.
