Fat Pig is the Neil Labute drama that is set to return to Broadway after taking to the road, touring North America, Sao Paulo, Hong Kong, and the West End. Fat Pig tickets for the 2011 return are available for a show that begins previews on April 12, 2011 and officially opens April 26, 2011. The show will also mark playwright Neil Labute's directorial debut.
The play is not overly complex. It tells the story of Tom, a classically good-looking urban professional. He meets an overweight librarian named Helen and the two quickly become a couple. However, Tom's friend Carter discovers his liaison and deems it as his mission to decimate the relationship, using a Tom's former flame and coworker Jeannie to sully the new love. Fat Pig may not explore any new dramatic ground, but it does bluntly bring the issue of weight and society to the forefront.
