Andricks decided that the idea of having the parade at night was a novel one and called in William Petmecky to help him plan the best way to illuminate the route using flares. But a bigger problem surfaced in finding participants for the parade. The most popular bands and floats were already booked for the Battle of the Flowers parade so Andricks began to think out of the box. He invited the military to take part and also invited clubs and societies that had been overlooked by the River parades and the Battle of the Flowers parade. He also called in the Shriners and a number of social groups. The result was a colorful parade like nobody expected, complete with its own line of nobility.
Andricks also hit upon the novel idea of holding an exchange of floats with other parades from across the state. He also had a keen eye for showcasing the unusual in his parades which once included a baton twirler who was a grandmother! Today the Fiesta Flambeau is one of the biggest parades in the country with close to fifty floats and around forty bands.
