This eccentric shoe owning first lady was married to the dictator Ferdinand Marcos and eventually widowed. The show will include 30 fast moving scenes and 17 songs. The show brings together the time starting from 1940's to the 1980's with the juxtaposition of the dictatorship of Ferdinand and the President instillation in 1986. The cast is also made up of all-Filipino members including Jaygee Macapugay and Mel Sagrado Maghuyop as both Imelda and Ferdinand. Other Filipino actors include Brian Jose as Benigno Aquino, Liz Casasola as Corazon Aquino, Angelica-Lee Aspiras, Billy Bustamante, Leanne Cabrera, Loresa Lanceta, Jr., Alan Ariano, Jonelle Margallo, and Romney Piamonte.
The Pan Asian Repertory Theatre collaborated with the East West Players to bring Imelda off-Broadway, where the show will perform in L.A. These two Asian American Theatre groups bring forth a strong group of people from the Philippines to produce a sensational show.
