Despite being an unsightly beast, Hyde finds himself feeling alive and vibrant as he wanders the night streets of London. He even runs into Lucy. Jekyll soon seems to disappear from life and his friend Utterton and Emma come to track him down. They are informed that Jekyll has locked himself into his lab and only comes out to order more chemicals.
Jekyll soon becomes distraught when he learns about the havoc Hyde has been causing. Not only has he assaulted Lucy but he has also committed a rash of murders, albeit the victims were all on the panel that rejected Jekyll's proposal. It is obvious that Hyde is nothing more than a manifestation of the anger and violence inside Jekyll. After begging Lucy to leave the city for her own safety, Jekyll and Utterton get together enough chemicals in order the ‘kill' Hyde. It looks as if all has ended well when we see Jekyll about to be wed to Emma in the end but Hyde suddenly appears and Jekyll realizes that there is nothing left to do but to kill himself in order to kill Hyde.
