 This play thrived in its premiere production at the Royal Court Theatre (that production included live chickens, a tortoise, and a gold fish in addition to the cast of 14. From the 2009 Royal Court, Jerusalem transferred to the West End. There the play starred at the Apollo Theatre, a theatre 416 seats bigger than the 280-seat Royal Court. Though the play had a rough beginning, Mark Rylance (Johnny Rooster) would eventually win the Olivier Award for Best Actor. Rylance is coming with the West End production for its Broadway run.
