The album brought immense popularity to the band - especially Janis Joplin. After performing in several large concerts, the group split in 1968.
Joplin formed a new group in 1969 and released her popular album 'I Got Dem - Ol Kozmic Blues Again, Mama.' Unfortunately, the band could not last long. Quitting her wild lifestyle, Joplin formed a third band named 'Full Tilt Boogie Band.' The band formed a new style and Joplin was extremely enthused and satisfied with the developments. Unfortunately, while recording 'Pearl' with her new band, Joplin accidentally took an overdose of heroin and passed away at the young age of 27. Millions of fans were left in a state of shock with the untimely demise of the diva. Her album 'Pearl' was released posthumously and went on to become smash hit. Her songs 'Me and Bobby McGee' and 'Mercedes Benz' became hugely popular.
