Show Biography - Medea
Medea is a Greek tragedy written by Euripides, it was first performed in 431 BC. Medea is one of the most popular and the only surviving plays of Euripides. The play is based on the myth of Jason and Medea. An interesting aspect of the play is that either Medea or Jason can be viewed as the tragic hero.
The play is often seen as a work of feminism, but Greek Theater experts have challenged the theory. They feel that instead of making Medea the protagonist, Euripides was trying to portray how a women should not behave. Jealousy and revenge is the dominating emotions of this play.
