Nice Work If You Can Get It tickets are Broadway tickets to enjoy the latest work to grace the stage from Joe DiPierto. The news that Matthew Broderick is joining the cast and that the musical is debuting in Spring 2012 is terrific news after it appeared a personal feud nourished by the vitriolic combination of love and business had shelved the show seemingly indefinitely in 2010.
Nice Work If You Can Get It tickets are available to see a celebration of music from the Gershwin's brothers George (music) and Ira (lyrics), who penned the very song from which the musical's title is taken. DiPierto created a story around that classic Broadway brother team, weaving a tale of a Long Island playboy who gets mixed up with bootleggers in the 1920s. Originally DiPierto had Harry Connick Jr. billed to play the lead with Erin Dilly as the female love interest, but interpersonal conflicts arose between his manager Ann Marie Wilkins, his agent Scott Landis, and project director Kathleen Marshall. Landis and Marshall began dating and that relationship somehow created a creative chasm between first Landis and Wilkins and eventually Connick Jr. and Marshall.
Needless to say, Nice Work If You Can Get It went from a promising follow up to DiPierto's Memphis to a mess worthy of a play within a play. Nice Work If You Can Get It tickets never found their way to the box office, not for a tryout run in Boston at the Colonial Theatre in late 2008 and certainly not on Broadway in spring of 2009.
