Nutcracker is a ballet and dance show played annually during the Christmas eve. Its a very light hearted show for age all groups between 6-60 years. The first performance of the show in Russia had a limited success. But once Nutcracker featured in Western Europe in 1930's and in America in 1940 it received lot of acclaim. Nutcracker became an annual holiday tradition after it was performed by the San Francisco Ballet in 1954 with W. Christensen as the choreographer.

Nutcracker played in 1985 in Lodon's Royal Ballet, Tchaikovsky's music and the dance sequence is not changed but here dance of mother Ginger was omitted. In 2001 the version was again staged but this same dancers played different roles along with some new dancers performing as well.
The story of Nutcracker Ballet mainly focuses on Clara Stahlbaum portrayed as a blonde German girl. The first Act of the ballet shows a Christmas party taking place at house of Stahlbaums. Clara with her younger brother and parents are enjoying the party with other friends and family. Then suddenly Herr Drosselmeyer, the godfather appears and distributes presents among all the children. But Clara is the only one without a gift since Drosselmeyer is out of presents. Clara feels very sad and Drosselmeyer gifts her Nutcracker. This makes her brother Fritz jealous who brakes the nutcracker. But Drosselmeyer repairs the toy. After the party is over everyone goes to bed but Clara is thinking about the her Nutcracker. She goes to the Christmas tree and falls asleep taking the Nutcracker in her arms. At midnight Clara wakes up hearing the sound of mice. She tries to escape but is stopped by the an army of mice. Then Nutcracker and soldiers defend Clara and fights with the Mouse King and his mice. Nutcracker finally wins the battle by killing the Mouse King with the help of Clara. Nutcracker who also dies is brought back to life by Clara's tears. The two start dancing while Nutcracker turns into a prince. He takes her to the land of Sweets where they meet Sugar Plum Fairy. She rewards them with many dances like like The Spanish Dance, The Russian Dance , The Arabian Dance while she herself performs the finale. Clara wakes up from her dream under the Christmas tree and finds the Nutcracker in her arms. Nutcracker ballet is surely a show which cannot be missed. Tickets are available with us.
