Vanessa Aspillaga plays the teenager, Darling, who wants to run away from her bickering parents and the park; she falls for Jorge (played by Paul Mullins), an older man who has a gaudy wardrobe, which includes an angel's robe, wings and even a halo with blinking lights on it. There are few musical scenes in the play, but one of the most amusing is when Darling dances with Jorge to everyone singing "Earth Angel." Every character is seeking out love and sometimes they shout in frustration. Darling lets out every teen's lamentation about her overpowering parents, her mom, played by Veanne Cox, carps on men, and her father, played by Christopher McCann, complains about women. At best, the play is almost like a dreary counterpart to "Queen's Boulevard (the musical)," Mee's mixture of a play about a multicultural wedding.

Paradise Park is an "amusement park that opens into all of America and beyond." This play is performed at The Signature Theater's Peter Norton Space through April 6, 2008. The show opened on February 12; it was written by Charles Mee. The setting of this play is an amusement park called home by most of the characters, such as a young man in a mouse costume and tourists that just never left, like an unhappily married couple and their teenaged daughter. The other characters include a ventriloquist and his dummy. There are fruit cake tosses, underwater ballets, square dances and even star gazing. This play has a pleasing, absurdist feel to it, but beneath that is something rarely found in Mee's work and that is the pull of real, genuine emotion. For example, while the characters are playing a game of fruitcake toss where the cakes are put in a huge slingshot and thrown across the stage, quite a few of them complain about society and how it has changed, divulging the reason the real world is so harsh.
